After graduating from NYU as an Economics major, I returned home to Singapore and built my own start-up - aimed at developing a mobile application that helps users decide where to eat and discover new restaurants.

My start-up didn't change the world, but it taught me how to build recommender systems (among many other things) and had me determined to pursue a career in data science.

I went on to pursue a Master's degree in Data Science at Columbia, and was afforded the privilege of an internship at Bell Labs as I completed my program.
